All of my insects are purchased from an authorized and licensed dealer who procures specimens from sustainable and farm-raised sources to remain compliant and permitted with CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) in order to protect endangered species and help ensure wild populations aren't exploited. All specimens undergo strict import/export requirements as regulated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. In many foreign countries where these insects are native to, it is highly profitable to cut down forests and plant mass crops which are more profitable for small farmers. Buying insect specimens from farms in these countries who choose to instead keep their plots of forest intact helps to prevent habitat destruction and deforestation in these extremely biodiverse parts of the world
